Aligned by the Same Wool

Between October 10 and November 22, 2025, at Gama Lobo Palace, the exhibition “Aligned by the Same Wool” took place, bringing together the work of seven textile artists developed in the context of the artistic residency of the same name. Luísa Leão participated with her work Fragmented Cartography and with the collective work Pastoral Body.Curated by Vasco Águas and with technical support from Paula Neves Têxtil, this exhibition embodies a project that aims to promote the wool of the Algarve churra sheep, a native Portuguese breed and the only one originating in the south of the country. For six months, the artists worked with Algarve Churra wool, combining their knowledge and exploring new approaches in the field of contemporary textiles. The project promoted dialogue between producers, creators, and trainers, building bridges between traditional know-how and contemporary artistic expression, with the aim of strengthening sustainability and local identity.

National Exhibition of Young Creators 2025

Between November 21 and 23, 2025, Luísa Leão participated as a finalist in the textile category at the National Exhibition of Young Creators (MNJC), held at the Convent of São Francisco de Santarém. The project, considered “the most important program to stimulate creation by young artists in Portugal since 1997,” is an initiative of the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports and the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ), in partnership with Gerador, an independent platform for journalism, culture, and education.

OpenStudios Faro.

Between October 11 and 13, 2024, Luísa Leão took part in the 5th edition of the OpenStudios Faro group exhibition. For three days, 25 studios throughout the city and surrounding areas hosted exhibitions, talks, workshops, performances and meetings with artists, reaffirming the commitment to democratizing access to art.

In this context, she was able to present the community with various works from her artistic career, deepening and maturing in the new phase she is in. In addition, she began to develop pieces that encompass the most diverse textile techniques she learned during her year of creative experimentation.

Wool Museum

With the aim of proposing multidisciplinary reflections, epistemological challenges and debating creative processes, the iArtes 2023 group exhibition was part of the 5th edition of the Arts Research Days at the University of Beira Interior. The exhibition took place between May 18 and June 25, 2023 at the Wool Museum in Covilhã (Portugal), with curatorial coordination by Manuela Penafria, Francisco Paiva and Renata Ferraz. In this context, Luísa Leão exhibited the installation entitled The cry of silence

Janela da Diversidade

The group exhibition entitled Janela da Diversidade (Diversity Window) took place between May 18 and 24, 2022 at the Wool Museum in Covilhã (Portugal), as part of the program for the 4th edition of the Arts Research Days at the University of Beira Interior, as well as the celebration of International Museum Day. With curatorial coordination by Francisco Paiva and Manuela Penafria, the exhibition was created with the aim of giving visibility to the development of artistic works associated with reflection and doctoral research. In this show, Luísa Leão presented her work Resgate: tempo, bordado e imagem to the public.
