Cosmética Cerratense
Born and raised in Brasília, Luísa has a deep connection with the Cerrado, the second most diverse biome on the planet. Between 2021 and 2023, she worked as a branding consultant and designer at Cultive-se: Cosmética Cerratense, a brand of natural, vegan and ecological cosmetics made with raw materials from the Cerrado. The brand's purpose resonated so much with her lifestyle that Luísa decided to expand her consultancy work and dive into graphic and product design as well. During this period, she contributed to the brand's visual identity, developing more than 10 packages and labels that translate the essence of the Cerrado in every detail.
Ressignificar, a collection of embroidered T-shirts
Launched in the first half of 2022, Ressignificar is a limited collection of embroidered T-shirts, made up of four models in different sizes. The pieces were inspired by the embroidery collection developed during the design stage of the artist's master's degree, transforming research and experimentation into fashion products. More than just a collection, Ressignificar marked a reunion between Luísa and her approach to fashion design, uniting concept, manuality and visual expression.
A collection about Covilhã
Arriving in Portugal, more specifically in Covilhã, at the age of 18, led Luísa to create a relationship of affection and intimacy with the mountains and alleys of the city where she lived for eight years. The artist was invited by the A Tentadora gallery to develop a collection inspired by the city that won her heart, and she did so with great honor. Four pieces were developed inspired by the city's traditions, architecture and urban arts, some of its best assets.
From traditional to contemporary embroidery: processes of resignification
The act of embroidery has always been an artistic and aesthetic expression in the societies in which it has been inserted. Currently, the focus of embroidery production has fallen on its political and social aspects. The main objective of the master's thesis entitled ‘From traditional to contemporary embroidery: processes of resignification’, is to analyze how this manual technique has been resignified, in different aspects, through contemporary influences and approaches.
With an interdisciplinary analysis that encompassed the social sciences, anthropology, design, communication, fashion and culture, a territorial overview was made of the types of traditional embroidery that are still present on the Portuguese scene today, with the aim of analyzing the contexts that have influenced the resistance of these techniques.
The bibliographical research was presented in chapters that were illustrated with embroideries produced by the author. These embroideries form part of a collection made up of six pieces, the main aim of which was to carry out an artisanal process of image transposition of the content developed in each chapter.
